Role Overview
This position supports the tax function by managing corporate compliance matters with an emphasis on state and local tax (SALT) requirements. The ideal candidate will assist in federal, state, and local tax reporting, conduct technical research, and help ensure accurate and timely filings across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct tax research to resolve federal, state, and local compliance issues and document findings
- Respond to tax notices, maintaining organized tracking systems for all correspondence
- Support the preparation and review of income, franchise, sales and use, and property tax filings
- Assist in analyzing state-specific tax accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Collaborate on ASC740 provision reviews and related tax accounting processes
- Identify process improvements in tax compliance and controversy management
- Stay informed on evolving SALT regulations and assess their impact on compliance and reporting
- Work with auditors and provide requested data to internal and external stakeholders
- Support tax incentive initiatives and other assignments as needed
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or tax and have at least two years of professional tax experience, preferably in public accounting or a corporate tax environment. Required skills include foundational knowledge of sales/use and income/franchise taxes, advanced Excel proficiency, and strong analytical abilities.
Preferred candidates will have specialized experience in state and local taxation and be actively pursuing or have completed CPA requirements. The role demands attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving setting.
