Modern Family Law is seeking a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our mission-driven firm. In this full-time, remote role, you will be integral to our financial operations, maintaining the integrity of our general ledger, ensuring compliance, and partnering with teams across the organization. You will report directly to the Senior Accountant and contribute to the financial health that allows us to help our clients move forward with their lives.
What You'll Do
- Record daily banking and financial transactions with accurate general ledger coding.
- Perform timely and accurate bank reconciliations for operating and trust accounts.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity by proactively researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including the preparation of financial statements and 1099 filings.
- Research and complete required state and local compliance filings across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain organized documentation to support audits, reviews, and regulatory requirements.
- Support accounts payable processes, including vendor setup, invoice review, coding, and processing in line with firm policies.
- Partner with the Accounts Receivable team on collections, trust replenishment, and client billing discrepancy resolution.
- Assist the CFO and Senior Accountant with financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc projects.
- Participate in cross-training, serve as backup support, and contribute to process improvements as the firm scales.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
- Must reside in Colorado or Texas and be capable of working from home with a reliable internet connection and productive workstation.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a multi-location or multi-state organization.
- Background in the legal industry.
- Customer service experience.
- Familiarity with accounting, billing, and financial systems such as QuickBooks, TimeSolv, LawPay, and Salesforce.
