Role Overview
As a Senior Technical Writer focused on API documentation, you will be responsible for shaping and maintaining comprehensive, accurate, and user-friendly developer content. You'll lead the evolution of developers.addepar.com, ensuring that all API endpoints, code samples, and integration guides reflect current functionality and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the developer documentation portal, conducting regular reviews to verify content accuracy and functionality
- Produce clear, concise documentation for new API features while streamlining or archiving outdated material to reduce complexity
- Test documentation against live systems to confirm that code examples and instructions work as expected
- Explore and apply AI-powered tools to automate updates and improve content completeness
- Develop expertise in ReadMe’s AI capabilities and integrate them into documentation workflows
- Work closely with engineers and product teams to interpret technical details and translate them into accessible guidance
- Establish and follow docs-as-code practices using Markdown and version-controlled systems
- Ensure documentation keeps pace with rapid development cycles through efficient, automated processes
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience creating documentation for RESTful or GraphQL APIs
- Ability to read and understand code in languages such as Python or Java
- Hands-on experience with developer tools including GitHub, Postman, and command-line interfaces
- Proven background using ReadMe or comparable platforms for technical documentation
- Familiarity with Markdown and version-controlled documentation workflows
- Understanding of how structured content supports AI and LLM-driven tools
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in technical writing
- Skilled at simplifying complex backend systems into practical, easy-to-follow instructions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across time zones with clear communication
- High emotional intelligence and a collaborative mindset
- A portfolio demonstrating your approach to organizing and presenting API documentation
Work Environment
This role requires residency in one of the following Canadian provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or Ontario. The position does not support visa sponsorship. Work is conducted remotely within these regions.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $87,000 – $109,000. In addition to salary, the package includes equity, a performance bonus, and comprehensive benefits covering health, paid time off, and more. Pay is determined based on market rates and individual qualifications.
