Lead the engineering and design of electric substation systems up to 765kV, contributing to critical power transmission and distribution infrastructure. This role involves developing comprehensive design packages, including physical layouts, one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and construction documentation, ensuring alignment with safety codes and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual and detailed substation layouts, general arrangements, and electrical schematics
- Perform critical electrical analyses, including short circuit, load flow, grounding, shielding, and thermal cable studies
- Specify substation equipment and prepare technical construction specifications
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to coordinate multidisciplinary deliverables
- Guide drafters and designers, overseeing workflow and design accuracy
- Manage project timelines, provide status updates, and support schedule adherence
- Ensure compliance with applicable design standards and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of licensure
- Minimum of three years of progressive experience in power system design and project management
- Proven experience in utility-scale substation and distribution projects
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project or similar project management tools
- Experience in consulting engineering preferred
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Inventor
