Position Overview
An established Electrical Engineer is sought to support critical mining infrastructure projects during planning and design phases. Based in Tucson, Arizona, this role requires independent judgment, technical precision, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, efficient electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute focused segments of larger engineering efforts, applying proven methods to collect, analyze, and interpret electrical data.
- Conduct engineering calculations and develop sizing packages for electrical components, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports using Microsoft Word, including methodologies, results, diagrams, and supporting documentation.
- Lead early-stage design activities such as load assessments, equipment selection, datasheet preparation, and general layout development.
- Support the creation of specifications for materials, equipment, and vendor data requirements.
- Evaluate bids for electrical systems and equipment, performing detailed technical reviews to ensure suitability.
- Review shop drawings from vendors against industry codes and project-specific criteria.
- Provide technical direction to junior engineers and contribute to team-based design integration.
- Collaborate with clients to develop and refine electrical solutions tailored to mining operations.
- Ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and to professional standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four years of relevant engineering experience.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Arizona, or the ability to obtain one.
- Field experience in construction, commissioning, or startup activities.
- MSHA Miner training certification.
- Background in process instrumentation and control systems.
- Proven ability to lead design packages, including schematics, diagrams, specifications, and final construction drawings.
- Experience with 3D CAD platforms to support detailed design coordination.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple technical tasks independently under tight timelines.
- Track record of producing well-documented reports and calculation packages with references and traceability.
Work Environment
This is a locally based position in Tucson, Arizona, with flexible work arrangements available. The role may require coordination with field teams and client sites, as well as collaboration across engineering disciplines.
