Wabtec is seeking a Sr. Linux System Engineer to join our Global Platform Operations team in the Americas. In this role, you will be instrumental in optimizing and securing our Linux server infrastructure, automating processes, and collaborating with technical teams to drive continuous improvement across our compute platforms.

What You'll Do

Collaborate with Senior IT Staff to optimize server infrastructure performance and assure security in a high availability Linux environment.
Play a key role in automating processes using IaaC or PowerShell for both On-Premises sites and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI).
Participate in the research and evaluation of emerging technology and market trends to assist in operational support.
Support the installation, configuration, and operation of the Linux server environment and provide advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot complex problems.
Collaborate with the Cyber team to track and resolve all security vulnerability findings within appropriate timeframes.
Contribute to the documentation of our standard procedures.
Manage technical projects or programs, such as hardware renewal, OS and software upgrades, and integration of external IT environments.
Contribute to the completeness of our ITIL processes and the integrity of Infrastructure tools.
Contribute to the migration of remote workloads to the cloud or data centers.

What We're Looking For

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM majors, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in an Enterprise-scale engineering or relevant discipline.
Advanced understanding of Linux configuration, patching, and security hardening.
Experience with automating and scripting tasks using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Shell/Bash.
Familiarity with IaC in a public cloud environment.
Familiarity with Virtualization Technologies (VMWare, HyperV).
Familiarity with Backup Technologies.
Understanding of Basic Networking Concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Experience with Active Directory and User Management.
Experience with ticketing and change request processes.
An analytical approach to solve complex problems in large-scale, multi-datacenter environments.
Ability to communicate with many IT and non-IT colleagues internationally.
A self-starter who requires minimal direction to accomplish goals.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Patching Technologies (Tanium, SCCM).
Knowledge of Storage Technologies (3PAR, Pure, DellEMC Unity).
Advanced knowledge of VEEAM Backup Technologies.
