About the Role

Hyundai USA is hiring a Sr. Chassis Control Calibration Engineer to lead the development and calibration of ESC and chassis dynamics control systems. You will define vehicle performance through subjective and objective testing, global certification, and competitive benchmarking.

What You'll Do

  • Develop ESC and chassis dynamics control systems through subjective and objective testing, including in-house calibration from prototype to production.
  • Conduct competitive vehicle benchmarking and support customer preference studies.
  • Lead ESC/Chassis Control performance development, including software calibration and hardware validation.
  • Conduct FMVSS126 ESC certification and NCAP rollover tests following NHTSA standards.
  • Participate in winter testing globally (Sweden, North America, etc.) for low mu performance calibration and verification.
  • Support in-house chassis control logic development and lead tuning application.
  • Develop in-house tests, procure instrumentation, and conduct trials.
  • Perform objective testing and analysis per NHTSA and major media procedures.
  • Conduct objective benchmarking at key development 'gateway points.'
  • Research customer feedback to understand requirements.
  • Translate product vision from Hyundai and Kia into actual vehicle dynamics performance.
  • Support all chassis R&D activities at the Proving Ground.
  • Work both independently and in a team, mentoring junior engineers.
  • Support manufacturing pre-launch activities and problem assessment.
  • Attend industry conferences, trainings, and vendor demonstrations.
  • Create and present technical reports.
  • Collaborate with Chassis, Brake, and NVH engineers to improve system performance.
  • Potentially install suspension parts or tires or direct technicians.
  • Assist in planning and monitoring the department budget.
  • Perform administrative functions like purchasing and travel requests.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry engineering and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electrified vehicle architecture, brake-by-wire, and regenerative braking systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Automotive Vehicle Dynamics Control principles.
  • Strong knowledge of SAE and FMVSS test procedures and ability to personally conduct such tests.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and ethical behavior.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse team environment.
  • Proficient driving skills.
  • Expert technical report writing skills.
  • Proficient with data acquisition systems, sensing equipment, and CAN bus data acquisition.
  • Proficient Project Management skills.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Proficient time management, organization, self-management, and communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
  • Documented professional high performance driving experience.

Nice to Have

  • 8+ years in Vehicle Evaluation & Development in the Automotive Industry.
  • 8+ years in Vehicle Chassis/Chassis Control System Tuning & Development.
