What You'll Do
Lead the planning and execution of real-world tire testing across various vehicle types and road environments. Develop detailed test protocols and define performance benchmarks in coordination with engineering and product development teams.
Oversee testing activities at proving grounds, customer sites, and on public roads, ensuring proper setup and calibration of measurement systems. Gather and assess data on key performance areas including wear, durability, fuel efficiency, traction, noise, and ride quality under varied weather and terrain conditions.
Analyze comparative mileage and cost metrics between Hankook and competitor tires at active and potential fleet accounts. Prepare detailed reports, visual summaries, and performance evaluations, and present findings to technical and operational stakeholders.
Identify performance shortcomings and provide actionable feedback for product enhancement. Support resolution of field issues, assist in technical training for sales teams, and contribute to benchmarking initiatives against industry competitors.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in tire or vehicle field testing, ideally within a tire manufacturer or automotive R&D setting
- Strong grasp of tire mechanics, wear patterns, and vehicle-tire dynamics
- Proven experience with data acquisition tools such as Dewesoft, CANalyzer, or LabVIEW
- Familiarity with sensor instrumentation, test rig operations, and controlled track procedures
- Demonstrated ability to lead testing projects and work independently across teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports
- Willingness and ability to travel 65–75% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in vehicle dynamics or tire engineering (e.g., SAE, ISTVS)
- Valid professional driving credential for performance testing (e.g., ARAI or equivalent)
- Background in regulatory compliance and certification processes (DOT, ECE, ISO, etc.)
