Field Service Engineer – Dallas, TX (Remote Field Role)
Role Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you will deliver expert-level installation, maintenance, and repair services for sophisticated laboratory systems throughout the Dallas region. Your work ensures equipment operates efficiently and meets technical and safety standards. You will interact directly with clients, diagnose complex issues, and implement solutions that support seamless lab operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair advanced analytical instruments in customer facilities, following established service protocols and performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate with clients to assess operational needs, recommend service enhancements, and deliver training to support effective equipment use.
- Identify opportunities for additional service work, consumables sales, and system upgrades that contribute to account growth.
- Manage field assets including test equipment, service tools, and inventory to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Report technical issues and suggest product improvements through formal quality channels.
- Complete required training programs and maintain certifications to support technical proficiency and safety compliance.
- Accurately document service activities, time logs, and technical findings in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental guidelines while working on-site at customer locations.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a High School Diploma plus seven years of hands-on experience repairing lab equipment, OR an Associate Degree plus five years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field with at least three years of field service experience. Military training with applicable technical background is also accepted.
Essential skills include strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and the ability to interpret technical documentation. Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with laboratory instruments and control software are required. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are mandatory.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and instrument software platforms.
- Vendor certifications related to scientific equipment.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including by air, based on customer and territory needs.
Work Environment & Support
This is a remote field position serving customers in the Dallas area. You will receive a company-provided vehicle, laptop, and mobile phone. Regular travel is expected. Ongoing training and opportunities for advanced certification are available to support professional development.
