Apex Microtechnology is hiring a Field Application Engineer

About the Role

What You'll Do

Provide technical leadership to both internal sales teams and external customers, guiding them through the full design cycle of advanced analog and power electronics systems. You'll translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions, ensuring seamless integration of high-performance components.

Deliver clear, effective technical demonstrations and training sessions that simplify intricate concepts. Develop application notes, evaluation tools, and supporting materials to empower customer success.

Work closely with design engineering to shape future products based on real-world feedback. Serve as a critical link between customer needs and R&D, identifying gaps and opportunities in existing and emerging technologies.

Support new product introductions by contributing to datasheets, test validation, and launch readiness. Spend time in the lab prototyping, debugging circuits, and performing root-cause analysis on failure modes.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Be eligible to meet U.S. Government “U.S. Eyes Only” security requirements
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of analog and power electronics principles
  • Have hands-on experience with circuit simulation, schematic design, and layout analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years in applications or design engineering, particularly in power analog domains
  • Proven experience in customer-facing technical roles requiring problem-solving under real-world constraints

Technical Stack

Work with core technologies including operational amplifiers, voltage references, PWM control, switching power topologies, SPICE-based simulation tools, and complex analog subsystems. Engage in full schematic and layout review, lab validation, and failure analysis.

Benefits

  • Structured onboarding with product-specific mentorship
  • A role that combines deep technical work, customer collaboration, and innovation
  • Exposure to mission-critical applications in defense, space, medical, and semiconductor sectors
  • Opportunity to influence product direction and see designs deployed in real systems
  • Travel to customer sites across North and South America to support integration and troubleshooting

Work Mode

This is a hybrid position based in Tucson, Arizona. Other locations or remote arrangements may be considered for highly qualified candidates. Expect up to 35% travel to support customer engagements across the Americas.
