What You'll Do
As a Specialty Sales Consultant, you will lead outreach efforts across a designated territory in Iowa, engaging with physicians and healthcare providers to share accurate, up-to-date information about approved pharmaceutical treatments. Your focus will be on delivering clear, compliant educational content that supports informed clinical decision-making.
You will develop a strategic business plan tailored to local market dynamics, identifying key prescribers and understanding regional trends that differ from national patterns. By organizing compliant educational interactions, you’ll support the exchange of medical knowledge while aligning with regulatory standards.
Meeting quarterly sales targets is central to the role, achieved through disciplined execution of marketing initiatives and collaboration with internal teams. You will maintain a professional presence that reflects ethical marketing principles and operate within defined budgets and timelines.
Requirements
- Hold a four-year degree from an accredited college or university
- Bring at least three years of proven experience in pharmaceutical sales
- Demonstrate strong communication, planning, and relationship-building abilities
- Show initiative and thrive in collaborative environments working alongside medical, access, and payer teams
- Have experience navigating markets with significant payer influence
- Be willing and able to travel, including one overnight trip per week as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate business training or advanced coursework
- Two or more years selling to specialists such as neurologists, pulmonologists, psychiatrists, or sleep medicine providers
- Experience engaging with academic medical centers or university-affiliated health systems
- Familiarity with REMS programs, specialty pharmacy networks, or hub services
- Background in central nervous system therapeutics
- In-depth understanding of relevant disease states, product portfolios, and competitive landscapes
