Scout Motors is hiring a Specialist Material Planner

Role Overview

As a Specialist Material Planner, you will be central to building a reliable and efficient supply chain for a pioneering American brand launching a new era of electric SUVs and trucks. Reporting to the Manager of Material Planning, you will oversee the end-to-end flow of critical production materials, ensuring availability at manufacturing sites while minimizing risk and waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement planning strategies for material procurement and logistics, focusing on high-value components with limited safety stock and elevated supply risk.
  • Monitor supplier performance and material movement from origin to production line, identifying potential disruptions early.
  • Lead cross-functional responses to supply bottlenecks, including inventory verification and emergency planning in coordination with internal teams and external partners.
  • Improve just-in-time (JIT) delivery processes by resolving inefficiencies and ensuring IT systems support accurate, stable operations.
  • Maintain strong, solution-oriented relationships with suppliers to align delivery schedules with production demands.
  • Coordinate the introduction of technical part changes, managing run-in and run-out phases to prevent obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with procurement and production teams to adapt planning during model updates or new product launches, factoring in quality and capacity constraints.
  • Drive continuous improvement in logistics processes, supporting digital transformation and sustainability goals such as CO² reduction.
  • Support the execution of internal and external logistics activities, ensuring alignment across departments and stakeholders.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is required. Candidates must have at least four years of experience in automotive manufacturing or logistics, particularly in inbound/outbound operations, supplier coordination, or JIT/JIS environments. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory for all roles.

Preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree or direct experience managing supplier logistics in automotive settings, especially with Just-in-Sequence (JIS) systems.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in supply chain software, process design, and data analysis is essential. Experience with hardware systems and networking in industrial environments is beneficial.

This is an onsite position based in Blythewood, South Carolina, requiring 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person collaboration and occasional travel for company events are expected. • Performance-based annual bonus
  • Employer-matched 401(k) with immediate vesting
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and income protection plans
  • 20 days of planned PTO, 40 hours of unplanned PTO, and 14 company or floating holidays annually
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave for all parents
  • Additional paid leave for bereavement, jury duty, voting, and military service
  • Opportunity to shape a new company and product line from the ground up
