About the Role

The role involves leading product management for food ingredients distributed within Spain, aligning technical specifications with market needs, coordinating with suppliers and customers, and driving product development and lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute product strategy for food ingredients in the Spanish market.
  • Analyze market trends and customer requirements to guide product development.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure product specifications meet regulatory and quality standards.
  • Work closely with sales and marketing to develop go-to-market strategies.
  • Manage product lifecycle from introduction to discontinuation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and supply chain performance for assigned products.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure consistent availability and quality.
  • Evaluate new ingredients for potential inclusion in the portfolio.
  • Support regulatory compliance for food safety and labeling requirements.
  • Provide training materials and technical support to internal teams and customers.
  • Track key performance indicators for product lines and report on results.
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements or cost optimization.
  • Maintain up-to-date product documentation and specifications.
  • Engage with customers to understand feedback and usage patterns.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial goals and technical capabilities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving procurement, logistics, and quality assurance.
  • Stay informed about changes in food industry regulations in Spain.
  • Participate in trade shows and industry events as needed.
  • Develop pricing strategies in coordination with finance and sales teams.
  • Manage product data in internal systems and customer-facing platforms.
  • Support new market entry strategies within Spain.
  • Troubleshoot product-related issues escalated by customers or partners.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders across departments.
  • Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across product lines.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the product portfolio

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in product management within the food or ingredients industry.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with distribution networks in the Spanish market.
  • Experience managing technical product specifications and documentation.
  • Ability to interpret customer needs and translate them into product features.
  • Proficiency in analyzing market data and identifying trends.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Project management skills with a track record of delivering results.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of supply chain operations and inventory management.
  • Experience working remotely with distributed teams.
  • Comfortable using product lifecycle management tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
  • Experience in B2B environments with technical products.
  • Understanding of pricing models in food ingredient markets.
  • Skilled in preparing reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Background in regulatory affairs related to food ingredients.
  • Ability to manage multiple product lines simultaneously.
  • Experience with ERP or PLM systems.
  • Customer-focused mindset with problem-solving orientation.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Adaptability to changing market and business conditions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer or supplier meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Direct experience in food ingredient distribution in Southern Europe.
  • Existing network of industry contacts in Spain.
  • Certification in product management or supply chain.
  • Knowledge of organic or clean-label food trends.
  • Experience with digital product platforms.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise software.
  • Background in microbiology or food chemistry.
  • Track record of launching successful products.
  • Experience managing international suppliers
