Stage 3 is hiring a Solids Control Field Technician to enhance drilling operations and recycle drilling fluid at remote rig locations. You will be a key player in maintaining efficiency and safety through mechanical processes and closed-loop systems, working a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off with 12-hour shifts.
What You'll Do
- Oversee mechanical processes to provide enhanced drilling operations and recycled drilling fluid through closed loop and other mud systems.
- Rig up and rig down equipment.
- Operate a variety of solids control equipment including shaker tanks, centrifuge, drying equipment, and pumps.
- Perform drilling fluid analysis including drilling fluid weight, funnel viscosity, and retort analysis.
- Perform various solids control services such as air drilling, barite recovery, de-watering, floc water, fluid transfers, and cuttings drying.
- Perform basic routine maintenance and electrical services on equipment.
- Move cuttings from pits to trailers by operating heavy machinery safely and efficiently, with supervision.
- Maintain a clean and orderly 'backyard' by using a variety of pressure washing equipment.
- Attend and actively participate in daily safety meetings.
- Complete daily PJRA/JSA, inspection reports, observation reports, and checklists.
- Wear proper PPE/FR’s while working in the backyard of a drilling rig and always abide by safety protocols.
- Input routine data into various systems including the company Portal.
- Operate an excavator, forklift, or Wheel Loader daily and earn certification.
- Earn certifications for various Rig Safety programs including PEC Safe Land, H2S, and CPR/First Aid.
- Keep living quarters clean and orderly.

- Must have the ability to be away from home for 14 days or longer.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Basic Microsoft Office experience including Outlook.
- Must have a valid State driver’s license, valid insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned rig sites.
- Must be able to pass a Pre-employment fit-for-duty test, drug test, background evaluation, and Motor Vehicle Review.
Nice to Have
- A 2-year Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Technology, Electronics, or Mechanics.
- Prior Forklift, Excavator, or Wheel Loader experience or certifications.
- Prior Solids Control Experience.
- 1 or more years of experience working in oil and gas.
- Experience operating shaker tanks, centrifuge, drying equipment, and pumps.
- Prior Heavy Machinery Experience operating a Forklift, Excavator, or Wheel Loader.
- Holding prior PEC Safeland Certifications (H2S, CPR - First Aid, Lockout Tagout).
- A basic understanding of drilling fluid properties.

Work Mode
This role is onsite at remote rig locations primarily in West Texas and South Texas, with travel required throughout the United States.
