About the Role
The engineer will lead the development and execution of solar power projects, from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
Responsibilities
- Design photovoltaic systems tailored to site-specific conditions
- Perform electrical load calculations and system sizing
- Produce single-line diagrams and construction documentation
- Evaluate interconnection requirements with utility providers
- Conduct technical reviews of equipment specifications
- Ensure designs meet National Electrical Code standards
- Support field teams during installation and commissioning
- Troubleshoot technical issues in ongoing projects
- Coordinate with permitting authorities for plan approval
- Analyze performance data from operational solar installations
- Optimize system layouts for energy yield and efficiency
- Review contractor submittals for technical compliance
- Develop specifications for inverters, combiner boxes, and mounting structures
- Integrate battery storage solutions into solar designs
- Maintain accurate project records and design files
- Participate in project meetings with clients and stakeholders
- Assess environmental impacts on system performance
- Provide technical input for project proposals and bids
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols in design deliverables
- Stay current with advancements in solar technology and regulations
Nice to Have
- NABCEP certification
- Experience with large-scale commercial solar projects
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems
- Familiarity with Title 24 and Title 19 requirements
- Project experience in Western U.S. regions
- Knowledge of interconnection standards like UL 1741
- Experience with PVsyst or Helioscope software
- Background in power systems modeling
- Understanding of federal and state incentive programs
- Prior work with engineering firms or EPC contractors
