Higher Logic is hiring a Software Engineer

Higher Logic is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help grow our platform and build robust solutions. You'll join a community of authentic people dedicated to sharing ideas and feedback openly. This role is heavily focused on back-end development, with opportunities to apply front-end skills.

What You'll Do

• Work in a multidisciplinary agile team to build and maintain features.
• Write code with proper testing and review code from teammates.
• Triage and fix bugs.
• Work closely with front-end developers, designers, and product managers to build polished features.
• Use modern technologies and latest web standards that scale to serve millions of users.
• Work primarily within your team and participate in a guild for craft mentorship and knowledge sharing.

What We're Looking For

• Adherence to Agile values and principles.
• Understanding of SOLID, KISS, and DRY principles.
• Knowledge of design patterns: DI, Singleton, Decorator, Chain-of-responsibility.
• Experience dealing with race conditions in database, cache, and filesystem.
• Experience dealing with scalability issues.
• Experience dealing with security and vulnerabilities.
• Experience with MySQL query optimization.

Nice to Have

• 5+ years of experience working with PHP and a major OOP framework.
• 5+ years of experience working with MySQL.
• 5+ years of experience working with Modular/Pluggable architecture.
• 5+ years of experience working with REST API architecture.
• 5+ years of experience working with a testing framework like PHPUnit.
