New Relic is seeking a Software Engineer 2 (#7649) to join our Infrastructure product organization. As a senior backend engineer, you will design, build, and scale next-generation services and capabilities, driving architectural innovation and supporting our mission to shape the future of observability.

What You'll Do

Design, build, maintain, and scale back-end services and their support tools.
Participate in architectural definitions with a high degree of innovation and creativity.
Create automation and tooling to make our systems more scalable and easier to deploy.
Work directly within a multidisciplinary team to help our customers and partners.
Research new tools and services to understand complex scenarios and propose new features.
Work in an agile environment with a DevOps approach, where teams build and maintain their own software.

What We're Looking For

A Bachelor’s degree in software development, engineering, or a related technical field.
3+ years of experience as a software engineer working in Java and/or Go with a strong computer science background.
Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale software systems with modern languages and frameworks.
Proven ability to mentor a team of software engineers, guiding them toward technical excellence and high-quality code.
Strong understanding of scalable distributed systems and microservices architecture.
Passion for exploring new technologies and finding creative solutions to complex problems in observability.
Excellent collaboration abilities and capacity to communicate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams.
Keep up to date with technologies like AWS/Azure/GCP, serverless, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Nice to Have

Contributions to open source projects.
Familiarity with the tech stacks mentioned above.
Understanding the value of build and test automation for team efficiency and reliability.
Experience in technical mentorship and leveling up the skills of colleagues.
Experience with asynchronous programming techniques: streams, event-based flows, task queues, message queues.
