About the Role
The Software Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to identify business needs, translate them into technical specifications, and support the development and implementation of software solutions. This position ensures alignment between technology teams and organizational goals through clear communication and structured analysis.
Responsibilities
- Collect and document business requirements from stakeholders across departments
- Analyze current workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
- Translate business needs into functional specifications for development teams
- Collaborate with project managers to define project scope and timelines
- Support user acceptance testing and validate system functionality
- Maintain detailed documentation of processes, systems, and requirements
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for automation and system optimization
- Participate in agile development cycles including sprint planning and reviews
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across platforms
- Assist in the evaluation of third-party software solutions
- Track and report on project progress and deliverables
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather input and feedback
- Manage changes to requirements using structured change control processes
- Support training and onboarding for new system users
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Work with developers to troubleshoot issues and clarify logic
- Develop process models and system diagrams to illustrate workflows
- Conduct gap analysis between current and desired system capabilities
- Promote best practices in requirements management across teams
Nice to Have
- Certification in business analysis such as CBAP or CCBA
- Experience in the nonprofit or philanthropy sector
- Background in financial or grant management systems
- Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
- Experience with API integrations and data exchange protocols
