Category Labs is looking for a Smart Contract Engineer to join its core engineering team and build high-performance applications. You’ll work on a range of projects, from collaborating directly with external application teams to designing and implementing new primitives enabled by our high-performance EVM client. You’ll be part of a small, high-functioning team in a fast-paced startup environment.

What You'll Do

Implement smart contracts optimized for the resources and throughput enabled by the Monad client.
Identify needs in the app developer ecosystem and address them through close collaboration with the core engineering team.
Work directly with external application or infrastructure teams to unblock them, leveraging deep domain and client expertise.

What We're Looking For

At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
At least 3 years of experience writing smart contracts in Solidity.
Prior blockchain engineering experience at a Layer-1, Layer-2, or infrastructure project (e.g., Oracle, Bridge, Indexer, RPC Provider, Wallet).
Expert with tools like Foundry and Hardhat and a deep understanding of application-layer security vulnerabilities.
Backend engineering experience in low-level languages such as C, C++, or Rust.
Experience building something significant from scratch, preferably with users.
Great communication skills and willingness to participate in technical discussions, reviews, and documentation.
A value for practical problem-solving, strong design skills, excellence, and a rigorous development mindset.
