Join a core engineering team building next-generation blockchain applications on the Monad client. As a Smart Contract Engineer, you'll design and implement robust, efficient smart contracts that leverage the full capabilities of a high-throughput environment. Your work will directly shape the application layer, enabling new primitives and empowering external development teams.
What You'll Do
- Develop and audit smart contracts optimized for performance and security within the constraints and opportunities of the Monad client
- Collaborate with both internal engineers and external partners to identify ecosystem gaps and deliver practical solutions
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges across application and infrastructure layers
- Contribute to system design discussions, advocating for clean abstractions, long-term maintainability, and scalable architecture
- Write clear technical documentation and participate in code reviews to uphold rigorous engineering standards
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on Solidity smart contract development
- Proven background in blockchain infrastructure—experience with Layer-1, Layer-2, or related systems such as oracles, bridges, indexers, or RPC providers
- Hands-on proficiency with Foundry, Hardhat, and testing frameworks for smart contracts
- Strong grasp of application-layer security, including common vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies
- Backend experience in low-level languages like C, C++, or Rust
- A track record of shipping meaningful projects from concept to production, ideally with real-world users
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with a focus on clarity and technical precision
- A practical, action-oriented approach to problem-solving, grounded in real-world constraints
- Demonstrated excellence in past work, with attention to detail and system design
- Commitment to disciplined development practices and high-quality outputs
Environment & Expectations
This is an onsite role based in New York City, where in-person collaboration fuels rapid iteration and alignment. The team values low ego, shared ownership, and a lean structure focused on ambitious technical goals. You’ll work alongside early team members shaping the culture and direction of the project.
