Role Overview
As the SIPP Technical Expert Lead, you will be the central authority on UK pension regulation and technical implementation, ensuring Upvest’s SIPP offering remains compliant, robust, and aligned with evolving legislative standards. You will work closely with product, engineering, and operations to translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable solutions that support long-term growth and customer protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor regulatory updates from the FCA, DWP, and HMRC, evaluating their impact on current and future SIPP services.
- Act as the primary resolver for complex technical pension cases, providing clear guidance to internal teams and external partners.
- Support product development by interpreting legislative changes—such as those related to the Pensions Dashboard—and driving compliant implementation across systems and processes.
- Strengthen governance frameworks by identifying market risks and contributing to controls that prevent poor customer outcomes.
- Develop and deliver training materials to build internal expertise on pension regulations, improving organisational knowledge and decision-making.
- Represent the company in technical discussions with external partners, financial advisers, and at industry events when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated expertise in UK pension rules, particularly as they apply to SIPPs, HMRC compliance, and FCA regulation.
- Proven ability to interpret legal and regulatory changes and convert them into clear operational guidance.
- Experience resolving intricate technical pension issues in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-specialist audiences, including engineering and product teams.
- Self-motivated with strong organisational skills, capable of managing priorities independently under pressure.
