Amber is looking for an experienced Server Engineer to join our team developing a leading mobile social casino game played by hundreds of thousands of daily users. This is a full-time remote contract role where you will focus on PHP-based server-side development, ensuring the backend remains scalable, reliable, and feature-rich.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize server-side functionalities in PHP to support new game content and events.
- Quickly debug and fix server issues or performance bottlenecks to ensure a smooth player experience.
- Jump into C# (Unity) code to implement client-side aspects of features when required.
- Team up with product managers, producers, designers, artists, and QA to plan and deliver features on time.
- Build and improve internal tools, including admin interfaces for A/B testing.
- Participate in sprint planning, provide accurate estimations, meet milestones, and adapt to evolving priorities.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of professional software development, with significant experience building backend systems, web services, or game servers.
- Deep understanding of server architecture, including performance tuning, concurrency, scalability, and reliability.
- Strong knowledge of PHP, or at least one common server language (C#, Python, Java), with the ability to quickly become effective in our PHP codebase.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Able to proactively communicate progress, flag issues, and ask for help.
- You take responsibility for your work, ensuring features are tested, stable, and delivered within the agreed timeframe.
