EX Squared is looking for a Senior Underwriting Counsel to provide expert legal guidance and risk assessment for our underwriting operations. This is a fully remote position where you will apply your deep expertise to support our business objectives.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert legal counsel on complex title insurance underwriting matters.
- Review and evaluate title documents, surveys, and property reports to assess risk.
- Issue underwriting decisions, approvals, and requirements for high-value transactions.
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, manuals, and best practices.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior underwriting staff and team members.
- Stay current on legal developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends affecting real estate and title insurance.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in at least one state.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in title insurance underwriting counsel or a closely related real estate law field.
- Deep expertise in real property law, title examination, and title insurance policies.
- Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects independently.
