EX Squared is hiring a Lead Underwriting Counsel to provide expert legal and underwriting guidance for our operations. You will be a key advisor, ensuring compliance and managing complex risk assessments.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert counsel on title insurance underwriting and complex real estate transactions.
- Review, analyze, and approve high-risk or complex title insurance commitments and policies.
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, standards, and best practices.
- Manage and resolve escalated underwriting issues and claims.
- Lead training and mentorship initiatives for underwriting staff.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active license to practice law in at least one US state.
- 8+ years of direct title insurance underwriting counsel experience.
- Deep expertise in real estate law, title examination, and curative procedures.
- Proven track record of managing high-volume, complex underwriting portfolios.
- Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external clients.
