OpenFX is hiring a Senior Technical Writer, API Documentation

Shape the future of developer documentation for a next-generation financial infrastructure platform. As a Senior Technical Writer, you’ll architect the entire documentation ecosystem—starting with nothing and building a scalable, maintainable system that serves both developers and internal teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Design the full information architecture, from onboarding guides to detailed reference materials, ensuring clarity across complex topics like multi-currency settlement and asynchronous webhooks.
  • Choose and implement the tools and workflows that power documentation, integrating tightly with OpenAPI/Swagger and enabling automated, accurate reference generation.
  • Work alongside product and engineering teams to advocate for developer needs, improving API design through consistent naming, usability feedback, and early review participation.
  • Build a public Developer Portal with searchable content, clear tutorials, and a transparent changelog to support global integration.
  • Reduce support burden by creating intuitive, example-rich documentation that gets developers to their first successful API call in under 15 minutes.
  • Establish feedback loops that turn real-world integration challenges into documentation improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least five years focused on API documentation for B2B or infrastructure products, with a strong portfolio showcasing public-facing technical content.
  • Deep familiarity with REST APIs, distributed systems, and financial concepts such as idempotency, rate limiting, and transaction states.
  • Proven ability to work in code-first environments using Markdown, Git, and CI/CD pipelines—treating docs as code.
  • Experience extracting technical logic directly from codebases and translating it into purposeful, educational content.
  • A teaching mindset: you explain not just what an endpoint does, but why and when to use it.
  • Prior work in fintech, payments, or banking APIs is strongly preferred.

Why This Role Matters

You’re not just documenting an API—you’re defining how developers understand and interact with a foundational financial system. Your work will influence how teams think about money movement, settlement, and global liquidity. You’ll help create the language developers use to build the next era of financial infrastructure.

This is a greenfield role with full ownership. You’ll set the tone, standards, and tools for future technical writers, all within a culture that treats documentation as a first-class product component.
