DMA is looking for a Senior Tax Consultant, Fuel & Excise Tax to join our team. In this role, you will support Tax Managers, Senior Tax Managers, and Directors in providing comprehensive fuel tax advisory and consulting services. You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance and managing complex tax matters for our clients.
What You'll Do
- Research and provide advisory guidance on current Federal and State/Provincial fuel & excise tax legislation and regulations.
- Prepare fuel & excise tax returns for both Canada and the USA.
- Collaborate with DMA teams to ensure proper tax treatment of client activities and compliance with laws.
- Assist in resolving fuel & excise tax issues for DMA clients.
- Provide ad hoc support for fuel & excise tax audits by supplying information and analysis.
- Negotiate with Federal, Provincial, and State auditors during refund processing and audit appeals.
- Support other fuel & excise tax compliance projects and work with clients on time-sensitive projects.
- Prepare updates and reports of findings for DMA clients.
- Prepare required administrative information, including status updates, job cost hours entry, and forecasting.
- Travel to client locations as required.
- Identify and collect data on prospective clients and analyze potential opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in U.S. and Canadian fuel and excise tax compliance or a related field.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with tax engines (Vertex, ONESOURCE) and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client service skills.
- Valid Drivers License.
