About the Role
The role involves defining system requirements, modeling complex behaviors, and guiding integration of autonomy features within a defense technology platform, with emphasis on test-driven development and operational resilience.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage system-level requirements for autonomous capabilities
- Develop models to simulate system behavior under diverse conditions
- Lead integration of autonomy components into operational platforms
- Collaborate with software and hardware teams to ensure alignment
- Conduct trade studies to evaluate design alternatives
- Support development of test plans and validation procedures
- Analyze system performance data to identify improvement areas
- Ensure compliance with safety and reliability standards
- Translate operational needs into technical specifications
- Guide verification and validation of autonomy functions
- Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making
- Troubleshoot system-level issues during testing phases
- Maintain documentation for system architecture and interfaces
- Work closely with field teams to assess real-world performance
- Optimize system designs for scalability and maintainability
- Apply systems engineering principles to complex integration challenges
- Support risk assessment and mitigation planning
- Evaluate third-party technologies for integration potential
- Ensure designs meet functional and non-functional requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with unmanned vehicle systems
- Background in artificial intelligence or machine learning applications
- Security clearance or ability to obtain one
- Experience in agile development environments
- Knowledge of DOORS or similar requirements tools
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles for embedded systems
- Prior work on defense acquisition programs
