CitiPower and Powercor is looking for a Senior Substation Design Engineer (Primary) to provide engineering expertise, leadership, and design for substation projects serving internal and external Network Services clients. You will be responsible for scoping, design, estimation, and the technical development of the Primary Design team, implementing policies for distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission assets.
What You'll Do
- Provide effective specialist engineering design and advice for the design of zone substations, industrial substations, and distributed generation network connections to various standards.
- Take ownership and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to produce formal responses and reports.
- Monitor, review, and approve engineering solutions and proposals by others, as well as manufacturer supplied drawings.
- Assist, develop, and implement new technologies and innovative design practices and standards to meet business needs.
- Apply high proficiency in risk management and generate cost savings through innovation.
- Define complex issues with ambiguous information, provide technical expertise and mentoring to design personnel.
- Synthesize various considerations to make tough decisions and push for better solutions.
- Develop technical based policies and procedures relating to design, and implement change as required.
- Assess Network Services capabilities and identify opportunities, engaging with the Design Leadership team.
- Design and validate station earthing systems using CDEGS, including conducting on-site testing and preparing technical documentation.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
- Professional Engineer registered with the Business Licensing Authority (BLA)
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or National Engineering Registration (NER)
- Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (RPEV)
- Expert design and compliance knowledge of substation design up to 500kV (preferable) in electrical distribution and transmission networks.
- Confidence in conducting electrical design studies such as cable, lighting, short circuit force, and insulation co-ordination.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and validating station earthing systems.
