KPFF is hiring a Senior Structural Project Engineer

About the Role

This role involves leading structural engineering efforts on diverse building projects, managing design development, client coordination, and mentoring team members while ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of structural designs for commercial and institutional buildings
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables across multiple phases
  • Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines
  • Perform structural analysis using advanced software tools
  • Prepare construction documents and specifications
  • Conduct site observations and field reviews
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards
  • Support project managers in scope and budget planning
  • Mentor junior engineers and review their work
  • Coordinate structural requirements with MEP teams
  • Lead design calculations for foundations, framing, and lateral systems
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations
  • Respond to technical inquiries during construction
  • Maintain quality control on project documentation
  • Assist in developing internal technical resources
  • Evaluate existing structures for renovation or retrofit needs
  • Contribute to sustainable design practices
  • Support business development through technical proposals
  • Ensure consistency across project teams and deliverables
  • Manage consultant coordination on integrated projects
  • Review shop drawings for conformance with design intent
  • Apply risk assessment principles to structural solutions
  • Stay current with changes in building codes and materials
  • Promote safety and constructability in design decisions
