Lead the development and execution of structural engineering solutions for power transmission infrastructure upgrades. This role centers on advanced structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete elements, and foundations, ensuring safety, compliance, and long-term performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structural evaluations, diagnose issues, and develop effective engineering solutions for diverse structural challenges.
- Design structural systems using industry-standard methods and software, producing accurate calculations and technical documentation.
- Collaborate directly with clients to understand requirements, present findings, and deliver tailored engineering recommendations.
- Review and validate engineering work, including calculations and drawings, to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Guide junior engineers and coordinate with project teams, suppliers, and client representatives to support timely project delivery.
- Assess existing facilities to identify necessary upgrades or replacements, providing clear technical reports and proposals.
- Travel as needed to client sites, vendor offices, and substations for design reviews, field verification, and coordination activities.
- Engage in professional development through peer-led knowledge exchange and participation in technical communities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with focus on structural behavior, analysis, and design.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on structural engineering experience, ideally in electrical substation design and modification projects.
- Proven ability to manage technical assignments within schedule and budget while maintaining high accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, with experience conveying complex technical details to clients and team members.
- Proficiency in structural modeling and analysis tools such as MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, RISA 3D, or RISA Floor.
- Familiarity with applicable codes including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
- Experience preparing technical specifications and supporting documentation for structural components.
Preferred Background
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Design experience with light industrial structures.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in the office and two days remote. Occasional site visits and travel to client or vendor locations may be required.
