Lead the technical and managerial direction of major geotechnical engineering initiatives, focusing on transportation and hydropower infrastructure across Texas. This position requires a proven ability to manage project lifecycles from scoping and budgeting through construction support and closeout, with a strong emphasis on client collaboration and engineering precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Define project scope, schedule, and resource needs for complex engineering efforts
- Direct technical work on geotechnical designs and analyses, including foundation systems, slope stability, and seismic evaluations
- Oversee construction observation, bid support, and coordination with contractors and regulatory agencies
- Ensure quality and consistency in engineering deliverables, including reports, plans, and specifications
- Guide junior engineers and technical staff, assigning tasks and reviewing work products
- Develop client relationships, identify emerging needs, and support risk and asset management strategies
- Contribute to business development by identifying new markets and expanding service offerings
- Represent the organization in technical discussions and project reviews with external stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to pursue and execute large-scale engineering projects
- Support continuous improvement by developing new methods and refining existing processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in geotechnical engineering
- Valid Professional Engineering license in Texas
- Proven experience managing TXDOT projects
- Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles, including liquefaction analysis, seismic hazard assessment, and seepage modeling
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing PS&E packages
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office, and specialized software such as FLAC, GeoStudio, and Mathcad
Preferred Background
- Master of Science in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- Experience with landslide assessment and stabilization techniques
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid model, with flexibility based on location across major Texas cities including Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, El Paso, and McAllen. Remote work options are available depending on assignment and location.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary ranges from $120,000 to $150,000, adjusted based on experience and location.
