Lead engineering efforts in water infrastructure with a focus on design, analysis, and project execution. This position supports the delivery of critical water and wastewater systems, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to timelines and budgets. Based in one of three South African locations—Centurion, Durban, or Bellville—the engineer will operate with minimal supervision while mentoring less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute core components of larger engineering assignments, applying established methods and adapting prior solutions to new challenges
- Collect and interpret engineering data using defined procedures and industry-standard practices
- Conduct calculations and perform routine technical evaluations for water and sewage systems
- Develop design approaches by modifying standard techniques to address unique project conditions
- Detect and correct inconsistencies in technical results
- Support early-career engineers through direct guidance and collaborative problem-solving
- Deliver complete design elements independently, from concept through to documentation
- Ensure all work aligns with agreed project schedules and financial parameters
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have between eight and twelve years of relevant engineering experience. Preferred background includes master planning, hydraulic modeling, and the design of bulk water and wastewater networks. Experience with water demand management, reticulation systems, reservoirs, and pump stations is highly valued.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with surge analysis tools and design software such as Bentley Hammer, WaterGems, SewerGEMS, and InfoWorks ICM
- Proficiency in InfoWater Pro, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Understanding of multidisciplinary project interfaces in water infrastructure
