Lead the engineering and execution of substation projects ranging from 34.5kV to 500kV, delivering comprehensive technical solutions for new and upgraded power delivery infrastructure. This role centers on detailed design work, including layout development, grounding systems, control building arrangements, and cable and material documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design substation one-line and three-line diagrams, auxiliary AC and DC power systems, SCADA and communications networks, relay panel layouts, and associated wiring and cabling schedules.
- Generate technical calculations, reports, and equipment specifications for substation components and construction requirements.
- Oversee project scope, budget, and schedule using project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
- Act as a technical lead or project manager, guiding teams of engineers and supporting cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Engage with clients to understand needs, present solutions, and support proposal development and contract bids.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to building technical capacity within the power delivery practice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of licensure.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in power system design and utility project management.
- Proven experience in high-voltage substation and distribution system engineering.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Inventor for design deliverables.
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage technical, financial, and scheduling aspects of complex projects.
