About the Role

Design plumbing systems for high-performance buildings in sectors such as healthcare, science & technology, cultural institutions, corporate campuses, and infrastructure. This role centers on creating efficient, reliable solutions for domestic water, sanitary waste and venting, medical gas, storm drainage, and specialized plumbing systems using modern design methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform load calculations, select equipment, and lay out piping systems for diverse building types.
  • Develop detailed drawings and specifications using BIM/Revit and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering disciplines to integrate plumbing designs into overall building systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, workshops, and coordination meetings to resolve technical challenges.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project-specific criteria.
  • Research design alternatives and document solutions for team review and implementation.
  • Support construction phases by addressing field issues and providing technical clarification.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should bring at least two years of experience in consulting engineering with a focus on plumbing design for institutional, commercial, or government projects. Familiarity with plumbing codes, engineering best practices, and digital design tools is essential.

Proficiency in Revit, BIM workflows, and Microsoft Office is required. Strong problem-solving abilities, clear communication skills, and the capacity to manage multiple projects are critical. A collaborative mindset and interest in mentoring others are highly valued.

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or Certified Plumbing Designer status—or eligibility to obtain it—is preferred. Knowledge of HVAC and building controls is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $71,600 to $84,600, scaled to experience and qualifications. Additional offerings include an annual bonus and a success-sharing program.
