Join Merck & Co., Inc. (also known as Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC) as a Senior Specialist, SAP MM Direct Procurement. This is a hands-on role within the Source to Settle (StS) team where you will combine SAP configuration, solution design, production support, and end-user enablement to shape the global Direct Procurement SAP solution across SAP ECC and S/4HANA.

What You'll Do

Shape and design the global Direct Procurement SAP solution to meet business, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
Configure and maintain SAP MM functionalities including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipt, invoice verification, supplier master, release strategies, pricing, and subcontracting.
Implement changes and integrations with systems like SAP Ariba and SAP Concur as applicable.
Deliver projects and enhancements end-to-end, from creating functional specifications to coordinating builds, testing, cutover, and post-go-live support.
Provide second and third-line production support, performing root-cause resolution while ensuring compliance with standards.
Lead testing, training, and documentation efforts, defining and executing functional and integration tests, supporting UAT, and producing training materials.
Manage stakeholders and vendors, gathering requirements, aligning expectations, and overseeing vendor deliverables and timelines.
Support change and release management using tools like JIRA and ServiceNow.
Drive continuous improvement, process optimization, and master-data governance.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
9+ years of hands-on experience with SAP MM.
7+ years of configuration experience specifically in ECC Procurement or S/4HANA.
Deep knowledge of Direct Procurement processes and end-to-end Source to Settle.
Proven experience with functional specifications, solution design, configuration guides, enhancements, and full-cycle implementations.
Strong skills in testing and production support, including integration/regression testing, UAT, and root-cause analysis.
Familiarity with JIRA and ServiceNow.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across global teams.

Nice to Have

Experience with SAP Ariba and/or SAP Concur.
xRay or equivalent automated testing experience.
Familiarity with HP/ALM.
Background in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry.
Awareness of regulated environments, quality systems, and compliance requirements.
Experience with Agile methodology and related tools.
