DICK'S Sporting Goods, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Platform to design and build best-in-class engineering solutions for our distributed systems. In this remote role, you will perform complex analysis and coordinate work to develop high-reliability platform services.
What You'll Do
- Drive development of platform automation, tooling, and services that improve reliability, performance, and operational consistency.
- Develop secure, scalable, and maintainable platform components for enterprise-wide use.
- Monitor, identify, and correct complex platform issues including message processing abnormalities, consumer lag, index replication issues, and API gateway errors.
- Improve platform observability, alerting, and operational maturity.
- Produce conceptual designs, prototypes, and patterns that improve how teams onboard, operate, and scale usage of platform services.
- Apply distributed systems knowledge to create resilient patterns for messaging, streaming, indexing, and APIs.
- Research platform, messaging, distributed system, and observability technologies and provide optimization recommendations.
- Drive and influence roadmaps for platform upgrades, lifecycle improvements, automation enhancements, and new capabilities.
- Lead root cause analysis for complex failures across messaging, streaming, search, or API flows and implement corrective actions.
- Assign short-term engineering tasks, automation work, or operational efforts to teammates based on platform priorities.
- Mentor teammates and contribute to the professional growth of SE2 and SE1 engineers.
- Develop own and junior team member capabilities through assessment, development planning, training, and coaching.
- Maintain understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education.
- Contribute to work within an established program management plan to achieve specific goals.
- Work with product teams to document technical requirements and design platform features that serve multiple use cases.
What We're Looking For
- Experience that enables you to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others (over 3 years to 6 years).
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent level.
- Basic experience coordinating the work of others (4 to 6 months).

- Compensation: $83,000.00 - $138,200.00
