About the Role

This role involves leading SMSF accounting and tax compliance activities, ensuring accurate client reporting and adherence to regulatory standards within a dynamic finance organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and finalize financial statements for self-managed superannuation funds
  • Ensure compliance with ATO reporting requirements and deadlines
  • Review trust deeds and fund structures for regulatory alignment
  • Manage client documentation and recordkeeping systems
  • Coordinate with auditors and tax agents during external reviews
  • Support the implementation of process improvements in accounting workflows
  • Assist in the onboarding of new SMSF clients
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of superannuation legislation
  • Conduct fund audits and internal verification checks
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members
  • Respond to client and advisor inquiries regarding fund performance
  • Prepare tax returns and related schedules for funds
  • Monitor changes in tax laws affecting fund operations
  • Ensure data accuracy across accounting platforms
  • Collaborate with technology teams on system enhancements
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews of deliverables
  • Track key performance metrics for accounting processes
  • Escalate complex compliance issues to senior management
  • Maintain confidentiality of client financial data
  • Support year-end financial close activities
  • Verify contributions and benefit payments for compliance
  • Assist in preparing board minutes and governance records
  • Work with cross-functional teams on client transitions
  • Identify risks in fund operations and recommend actions
  • Stay current with industry best practices in fund accounting
