Editas Medicine is hiring a Senior Scientist

About the Role

Editas Medicine is hiring a Senior Scientist to join the Molecular and Cell Biology group. You will leverage expertise in molecular and cell biology to test and optimize gene editing strategies, develop assays, and build disease models to advance CRISPR-based therapeutics.

What You'll Do

  • Function within a team dedicated to developing new and innovative gene editing-based therapeutics from conception to IND-enabling studies.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to design and execute critical experiments, generate, analyze, interpret, and communicate data.
  • Engineer and evolve CRISPR-derived precision gene editing platform technologies via rational and/or combinatorial design workflows.
  • Develop in vitro or cell-based high-throughput screening methods for functional readout.
  • Generate cell-based phenotypic models of diseases-of-interest and establish experimental paradigms to assess therapeutic hypotheses.
  • Build quantitative assays to measure efficacy and biological function of gene editing strategies and impact on disease phenotypes.
  • Conceptualize and generate necessary molecular tools and reagents for testing gene therapies such as viral and non-viral delivery vectors.

What We're Looking For

  • Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology or a related field with 6+ years of industry experience (excluding post doc).
  • M.S. in cell and molecular biology with 8+ years of industry experience.
  • B.S. in cell and molecular biology or a related field with minimum 10+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience working with CRISPR-based gene editing technologies and gene therapy modalities including lipid nanoparticles (LNP), RNA, and viral vectors.
  • Extensive molecular biology expertise including plasmid and primer design, molecular cloning techniques, PCR, DNA/RNA/protein quantification assays.
  • Extensive cellular biology experience including mammalian cell culture, transfections, flow cytometry, and various cell-based assays.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge in genetic diseases, precision gene editing technologies, and gene therapy.
  • Experience in protein structure-function studies, high-throughput mutagenesis screening, rational protein engineering, and directed evolution.
  • Ability to drive success in a fast-paced, team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment, collaborate cross-functionally, and manage multiple projects.

Technical Stack

  • CRISPR/Cas12a, CRISPR/Cas9
  • Lipid nanoparticles (LNP), RNA, AAV, Lentivirus
  • Gibson assembly
  • qPCR, ddPCR, RT-qPCR, RT-ddPCR
  • JESS-Western Blot, ELISA
  • Flow cytometry

Team & Environment

You'll be part of the Molecular and Cell Biology group. Our team of passionate problem solvers is driven by a shared purpose to serve people living with serious diseases. We succeed together through collaboration, mutual respect, and innovation.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $150,000 - $165,000
