Join a research group dedicated to understanding limb development in mice, where the Research Technician plays a central role in advancing experimental and operational goals. This position supports a dynamic team investigating tissue and developmental biology through advanced molecular and imaging techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day laboratory functions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow
- Conduct wet-lab procedures including molecular biology, histology, and in situ hybridization methods
- Oversee inventory of reagents and consumables, coordinate procurement, and manage vendor relationships
- Train and supervise students, junior technicians, and visiting researchers in standard operating procedures and equipment use
- Maintain and schedule servicing for essential lab instruments, ensuring calibration and operational readiness
- Collaborate with internal core facilities such as microscopy, genomics, and animal units to support interdisciplinary projects
- Ensure compliance with biosafety, chemical handling, and waste disposal regulations
- Keep accurate records in lab notebooks and digital systems, supporting data integrity and reproducibility
- Assist in project planning, budget tracking, and grant-related administrative tasks
- Contribute to team discussions, strategic planning, and outreach initiatives
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or PhD in biology or a related field, along with formal certification for working with laboratory animals in Europe. Essential experience includes:
- At least three to five years in a research laboratory setting
- Direct involvement in mouse breeding, histology, microscopy, and developmental biology assays
- Proven ability to manage lab operations, budgets, and supply chains
- Experience maintaining lab equipment and coordinating service contracts
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail
- Leadership qualities with a track record in mentoring and team coordination
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, both written and spoken
Preferred expertise includes immunofluorescence, Hybridization Chain Reaction (HCR), whole-mount in situ hybridization, and Expansion Microscopy.
