Responsibilities
- Evaluate early-stage product designs and prototypes to identify potential user hazards and define risk reduction strategies for new power tools.
- Record and manage safety specifications in Product Safety Reviews, ensuring continuity across the product development lifecycle.
- Convey safety criteria to project teams using meetings, emails, and conference calls.
- Examine test results and reports to verify compliance with established safety qualifications.
- Develop safety-related content such as warnings and instructions for user manuals and assess externally prepared materials for safety accuracy.
- Design and guide team members in creating compliant on-product warning labels following ANSI Z535 standards.
- Assess product images, videos, and promotional materials to ensure they reflect safe usage and align with instructions and warnings.
- Coach and support junior Product Safety Engineers in their technical and professional growth.
- Educate product development teams on safety protocols and integration into workflows.
- Develop and maintain internal safety procedures and engineering design guidelines.
- Assist in analyzing returned field units and testing outcomes to support product investigations.
- Challenge development teams to justify and improve hazard control approaches.
