This role leads end-to-end mixed-methods research within a key product area, transforming unclear questions into structured learning plans and delivering insights that directly influence product and design direction. The researcher operates remotely and reports to the Director of Research.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive research initiatives across a major product domain from start to finish
- Independently define and execute research projects that inform strategic decisions, turning ambiguous problems into clear research plans
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering teams to align on decision scope, timelines, and tradeoffs
- Conduct diverse research studies spanning discovery, concept development, prototyping, and post-launch evaluation
- Leverage AI tools to speed up data synthesis and interpretation, including clustering insights and identifying patterns, while maintaining rigorous validation practices
- Develop simple, reusable research processes such as templates, prompts, and checklists to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality
- Share effective AI-assisted research methods with colleagues and partners, promoting ethical and privacy-conscious usage
- Design and lead robust qualitative research including interviews, concept testing, usability sessions, walkthroughs, and diary studies
- Transform raw research data into clear themes, models, and actionable recommendations for teams
- Facilitate collaborative sessions to help teams build shared understanding and define next steps
- Combine qualitative findings with behavioral product data and business metrics such as conversion, activation, adoption, and retention
- Design and manage surveys when needed, including crafting questionnaires, defining samples, and analyzing responses
- Perform primary and secondary data analysis, including statistical comparisons, trend identification, and segmentation
- Integrate multiple data sources into concise insights that highlight risks, tradeoffs, and opportunities
- Communicate findings effectively through both asynchronous and live formats, adapting messaging for product managers, designers, engineers, data specialists, and leadership
Requirements
- Hold a graduate degree or possess equivalent relevant experience
- Have 5 or more years of experience in user, product, or UX research—or a closely related field
- Demonstrate a track record of independently leading mixed-methods research that directly influences product and design choices
- Present a strong qualitative research portfolio with at least two detailed case studies showing your role, methods used, synthesis approach, and impact
- Possess foundational quantitative skills, including survey design, analysis, and fluency with product and business metrics
- Have experience working closely with Data or Analytics teams and using behavioral data to strengthen research outcomes
- Have experience supporting self-serve research or improving research practices through templates, systems, or lightweight training initiatives
Nice to Have
- Experience conducting research on B2B SaaS products and complex user workflows
- Ability to independently query data using SQL or a comparable language

Compensation
CAD $180,000 - $225,000 (based on location in BC & ON, Canada). Equity: RSUs
