Varjo is seeking a Senior Reliability Test Engineer to join the mechanical engineering team in Helsinki. In this role, you will define and execute reliability and environmental test strategies for high-end VR/XR hardware, working closely with design teams and external partners to ensure product quality and performance throughout the product lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Define, develop and execute system- and component-level hardware reliability and environmental test strategies for Varjo products.
- Plan and execute comprehensive verification and validation activities from the early R&D phase through the entire product lifecycle.
- Lead, coordinate and execute reliability and environmental testing using both in-house laboratory and external test partners.
- Create and manage test plans, detailed reports, and executive summaries to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Proactively support HW design team by providing Design for Reliability guidance during design reviews and support component qualification activities.
- Lead failure investigations and root cause analysis to identify potential design or manufacturing issues.
- Develop, implement, and improve Varjo internal reliability testing standards and processes.
What We're Looking For
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. on a related technical field.
- Proven track record of 7+ years in complex electro-mechanical product reliability testing, preferably within consumer electronics, optoelectronics, wearable products.
- Hands-on experience with reliability test and laboratory equipment, including environmental chambers (thermal cycling, humidity, combined), vibration and shock test systems, ingress protection test setups (IP rating).
- Willingness and ability to specify, build, and qualify new test equipment and develop of in-house laboratory capabilities.
- Deep understanding of environmental testing (e.g., thermal, humidity, vibration, drop, and ingress protection) and relevant standards (IEC, MIL-STD).
- Proficiency in reliability methodologies such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), HALT/HASS, and statistical analysis (e.g., Weibull, MTBF).
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to support cross-functional stakeholders (Design, Project management, Sourcing, Manufacturing).
- A strong network of external testing and validation partners.
- Fluency in English.
- This is a hands-on role in our Helsinki-based team. Because you’ll be working with physical devices and prototypes, the work will be performed mostly on site at our headquarters in Kaisaniemi.

Work Mode
