Carilion Clinic is hiring a Senior Reimbursement Analyst

Role Overview

As a Senior Reimbursement Analyst, you will manage critical financial processes related to third-party reimbursement within a healthcare organization. Your work will directly impact financial accuracy, compliance, and reporting integrity. You will analyze payment data, reconcile accounts, and support month-end and year-end closings with precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of third-party payer accounts to ensure accurate revenue recognition
  • Prepare and file Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party cost reports
  • Support monthly contractual allowance closings by developing estimates and financial templates
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather data and deliver financial insights for decision-making
  • Design and maintain processes for estimating contractual adjustments and third-party liabilities
  • Respond to auditor requests and coordinate information for external audits
  • Conduct reimbursement research and support special projects as assigned
  • Assist in training junior staff and serve as a resource for reimbursement-related inquiries
  • Provide data analysis for tax reporting and regulatory compliance
  • Use financial systems including Epic and spreadsheet software to extract and validate data

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration with a finance concentration. A minimum of five years of experience in accounting or finance is required, including at least three years focused on reimbursement—preferably in a hospital, health system, or third-party payer environment.

Strong analytical abilities, proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing tools, and excellent communication skills are essential. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.
