Carilion Clinic is hiring a Senior Reimbursement Analyst

About the Role

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Senior Reimbursement Analyst to perform third-party reimbursement services critical to our financial operations. You will work independently to support monthly closings, file cost reports, and develop estimates that ensure the accuracy of our financial statements.

What You'll Do

  • Perform third-party reimbursement services and communicate with personnel across various departments.
  • Work independently with limited supervision, using independent judgement within defined guidelines.
  • Support and prepare monthly contractual allowance closings and third-party cost report filings.
  • Develop estimates and reports significant to financial statement accuracy and performance.
  • Prepare reimbursement templates, analyze and reconcile third-party accounts, and conduct monthly closing analyses.
  • Design, review, and maintain processes for evaluating contractual discounts and third-party liabilities.
  • Document approaches and rationale with an eye towards continuous process improvement.
  • Gather data from multiple sources and conduct analysis to complete Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
  • Review and prepare budgeted contractual adjustments.
  • Work with third-party auditors and coordinate obtaining requested information.
  • Conduct reimbursement research and special projects.
  • Provide reimbursement support and analysis to Vice President-Accounting Services, Financial Advisory staff, and Service Line managers.
  • Provide information and analysis for tax filings.
  • Assist in training new reimbursement and financial advisory staff.
  • Serve as an information resource for Reimbursement Analysts and Financial Analysts.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration with a concentration in finance/accounting.
  • Minimum of five years of accounting or finance work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of current experience in reimbursement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical and personal computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

Nice to Have

  • Certified Public Accountant license.
  • Reimbursement experience with a hospital, hospital chain, or third-party intermediary.
