This role supports the end-to-end management of commercial property/casualty and disability claims under close supervision. You’ll engage in a structured learning path that includes formal training, personalized mentoring, and real-world experience to build proficiency in claim evaluation, liability determination, and settlement practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Review initial reports and documentation to initiate claim investigations
- Identify and contact relevant parties—claimants, witnesses, or customers—to collect essential details about incidents or injuries
- Assign tasks to specialized teams when needed and maintain accurate case records
- Create action plans using case facts, regulatory guidelines, and internal protocols
- Manage a diverse portfolio including workers’ compensation, general liability, commercial auto, property damage, and group benefits claims
- Analyze facts to assess liability, coverage, and financial exposure
- Negotiate settlements within authorized parameters
- Develop reliable cost projections using internal tools, service guidelines, and market standards
- Determine coverage validity based on investigative findings
- Guide policyholders on next steps and resolution options
- Apply proven loss management strategies such as Immediate Contact Plans, L9 checks, and early settlement approaches
- Maintain detailed records and generate timely reports
Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate strong communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills. Clear, concise information delivery and sound judgment are essential. Attendance and full participation in training are required. You must live within 50 miles of Hoffman Estates, IL, or Indianapolis, IN—unless you are based in Ohio, Montana, Virginia, or Minnesota. Those near IL or IN must be available in the office twice monthly. All candidates must attend one week of mandatory in-person training in Plano, TX in July 2026.
Preference will be given to applicants with customer-facing experience, familiarity with insurance concepts, legal liability, or medical terminology. Some states may require professional licensing.
