Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, is hiring a Senior Principal Research Scientist Engineer. In this key technical leadership role within the R&D Process Engineering function, you will be responsible for identifying and developing novel approaches to enhance process development efficiency and commercialize new therapeutic modalities.
What You'll Do
- Develop robust manufacturing processes to support novel assets through all clinical development phases.
- Lead project teams for process development and characterization of new synthetic and large molecule assets.
- Influence process development for toxins, cosmetic active ingredients, and genetic medicines.
- Lead scale-up of laboratory processes in the pilot plant.
- Set project strategies, define responsibilities and timelines, and provide leadership in a matrixed team setting.
- Solve challenging problems with biochemical reactions, separations, and isolations using expertise in reaction kinetics, transport phenomena, and mathematical modeling.
- Establish, communicate, and execute research plans.
- Collaborate across disciplines to identify process challenges and communicate findings effectively.
- Author and review technical documents summarizing process development for regulatory filings.
- Strengthen the scientific brand of Process Engineering while mentoring direct reports and colleagues.
What We're Looking For
- A BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical/Bio Engineering or a related field with 18+ (BS), 16+ (MS), or 10+ (PhD) years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience.
- A strong foundation in chemical engineering with proven skills in the field.
- The ability to solve challenging technical problems and champion innovative technologies to achieve project goals for novel modalities.
- A strong team player with scientific leadership qualities and effective oral and written communication skills for leading cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated experience as a technical team leader in biologics, peptides, ADC development, or genetic medicines.
- A proven track record of initiative in building and sustaining cross-functional collaborations.
