Responsibilities
- Uphold core values centered on intentional action, openness, empathy, accountability, and active engagement
- Promote a dynamic, iterative approach to material innovation—rapidly testing ideas, learning from setbacks, and refining concepts to create impactful products
- Prioritize lean development by identifying optimal points to shift focus in early-stage product creation
- Adjust to changing priorities using short sprint cycles aligned with seasonal timelines, coordinating across suppliers and internal teams
- Translate user insights and challenges to suppliers, actively supporting material development to exceed quality and performance benchmarks
- Collaborate with mills to establish and oversee testing protocols and quality standards for both new and existing materials
- Lead seasonal updates to materials, including color and print development, lab dip reviews, and design evaluations
- Ensure compliance with regulations related to fabric safety, sustainability, and product standards
- Identify, evaluate, and develop high-performance knits, wovens, technical yarns, fibers, and membranes through advanced textile partners
- Build strong supplier partnerships by clearly communicating goals and the rationale behind material initiatives
- Assess supplier capabilities based on technical expertise and manufacturing processes
- Engage in early cost estimation and negotiation of development pricing with vendors
- Perform quality checks during mass production, focusing on color accuracy, visual consistency, and tactile qualities
- Support the creation and maintenance of quality documentation for manufacturing partners
- Collaborate with material and product teams to pioneer new material technologies and constructions that advance product and business objectives
