Responsibilities
- Build and evolve Kraken’s financial risk frameworks covering counterparty risk, treasury risk, payment rails, and crypto market structure
- Define exposure methodologies and risk limits for exchanges, custodians, banks, liquidity providers, and DeFi protocols
- Design governance processes that enable safe scaling of Kraken’s financial ecosystem
- Partner with product and engineering teams to evaluate and shape new products before launch
- Identify financial risks across margin, derivatives, staking, DeFi integrations, lending, and payments
- Help design risk controls, collateral frameworks, and guardrails that enable safe product innovation
- Build scenario frameworks to model extreme crypto market conditions such as: stablecoin depegs, exchange failures, liquidity crises, large market drawdowns
- Quantify firmwide impacts on liquidity, collateral, and counterparty exposures
- Evaluate financial risks across Kraken’s external ecosystem including liquidity providers, market makers, banks, custodians, and DeFi protocols
- Develop exposure limits and monitoring frameworks to prevent concentration risks
- Design onboarding frameworks for new counterparties and venues
- Partner with Treasury to assess risks related to firm investments, liquidity management, and balance sheet exposures
- Design frameworks for managing crypto and fiat liquidity across jurisdictions and market conditions
- Help design tools and data systems used to measure and visualize financial risk across Kraken
- Collaborate with data and engineering teams to build scalable risk analytics infrastructure
