Shape the narrative of live commerce through data
As the Senior Manager, Data Communications / Trends Expert, you will define how real-time consumer insights are translated into influential stories. You’ll lead the creation of research initiatives and trend reports that capture shifts in buyer and seller behavior, turning raw data into clear, culturally resonant narratives that earn media attention and position the company as a category leader.
What You’ll Do
- Design and launch a recurring program of data-driven trend reports, from methodology to media distribution, with seasonal and cultural relevance
- Collaborate with data, product, and category teams to uncover hidden patterns and transform them into compelling storylines
- Develop a signature content franchise—such as a blog or newsletter—that delivers original analysis on live commerce, seller economics, and emerging consumer behaviors
- Use AI tools and platform analytics to surface insights that inform press outreach, public commentary, and industry positioning
- Create pitch-ready materials, talking points, and backgrounders grounded in research to support media engagement
- Represent the brand publicly as an on-the-record expert on consumer trends, live shopping culture, and digital marketplace dynamics
- Build trusted relationships with journalists by offering timely, data-backed perspectives on broader cultural and economic conversations
- Ensure narratives are both statistically sound and accessible to general audiences, balancing rigor with resonance
Who You Are
- You have 7–10 years in communications, PR, or journalism, with a focus on translating complex data into clear, engaging stories
- You’ve launched research initiatives or trend reports that gained media traction and influenced public discourse
- You’re analytically minded—you know how to interrogate datasets, spot meaningful patterns, and identify what’s truly newsworthy
- Your writing is sharp and adaptable—you can distill a trend into a headline or expand it into a feature-worthy narrative
- You thrive in fast-moving environments, whether in tech, media, or marketplace businesses, and are comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on execution
- You operate with low ego and high initiative, equally willing to draft a press angle or refine a research framework
- Familiarity with AI-powered research and analysis tools is a plus—you’re curious, eager to learn, and see technology as a force multiplier
- Prior experience engaging with editorial teams or consumer media is highly valued, along with existing press relationships
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid model, requiring proximity to one of the company’s hubs in San Francisco, New York, or Los Angeles. You’ll have flexibility to work remotely while coming together in person for strategic collaboration and team alignment.
Culture & Values
You’ll join a team that moves quickly, prioritizes impact, and stays deeply connected to the product and its users. The culture favors action over perfection, curiosity over assumptions, and outcomes over visibility. All team members are expected to engage with the platform regularly—both as buyers and sellers—to maintain firsthand insight into the user experience.
Benefits

- Generous time-off policy and paid parental leave (16 weeks) with a structured return-to-work option
