National Audubon Society is hiring a Senior Manager, Business Development – Audubon Conservation Ranching

About the Role

Drive the expansion of a conservation-focused certification program by building partnerships across the beef and bison sectors. This role focuses on scaling the adoption of bird-friendly land practices by aligning supply chain stakeholders—from producers to retailers—with a shared sustainability vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with suppliers, processors, distributors, and retailers to integrate bird-friendly certification into product offerings
  • Negotiate agreements that support widespread use of the certification seal and ensure compliance with sourcing and licensing standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams to connect market partners with certified ranches and strengthen supply chain transparency
  • Analyze market trends and identify new business opportunities to inform partnership strategies
  • Support brands in maintaining certification requirements and maximizing market value through effective messaging
  • Work with science, communications, and field teams to align business development with conservation outcomes
  • Represent the program at industry events and contribute to cross-border initiatives across the Americas
  • Track performance metrics, report on partnership outcomes, and support budget planning for market development
  • Contribute to broader sustainable product initiatives, including bird-friendly coffee and maple

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, environmental science, or a related field, with at least seven years of experience in agricultural supply chains, sustainability programs, or strategic partnerships. Familiarity with beef or bison production systems and certification frameworks is essential. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can translate ecological goals into viable market solutions, manage multiple initiatives, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders—from ranchers to executives.

A commitment to conservation values and organizational principles of care, collaboration, integrity, and innovation is required. Experience in inclusive team environments is a plus.
