Senior Manager, Accounting Advisory – Nonprofit Clients
Role Overview
Lead high-impact advisory engagements for nonprofit organizations, serving in a strategic CFO-level capacity to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency. This role is central to transforming accounting functions through technology adoption, process standardization, and data-driven insights. You will guide organizational change, support financial planning, and strengthen client operations while working within a flexible, nationally distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct advisory projects for nonprofit clients, delivering strategic financial guidance and operational recommendations.
- Lead initiatives to modernize accounting practices using technology, consistent workflows, and industry best practices.
- Develop trusted advisor relationships with senior leadership by aligning financial strategies with organizational goals.
- Supervise multi-client accounting teams, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of services.
- Evaluate financial performance using key metrics and deliver insights to strengthen cash flow and fiscal sustainability.
- Coordinate with internal specialists in payroll, revenue, and cost reporting to provide comprehensive solutions.
- Support the creation of budgets and forecasts, advising on long-term financial planning and resource allocation.
- Coach and develop team members, promoting accountability, professional growth, and high-performance standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 8 years of experience in public accounting or corporate finance
- Current expertise in federal grant accounting and compliance
- Demonstrated success leading teams through change and process transformation
- Strong project leadership and client relationship skills with a service-first approach
- Experience managing remote or distributed teams
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and present clear, actionable insights
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
- CPA certification
- Proficiency with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online and Sage Intacct
- Track record of adopting and integrating new technologies
Technology Environment
Primary tools include QuickBooks Online and Sage Intacct for accounting and financial reporting.
Work Model
This is a hybrid position with full remote flexibility. You may work from any location in the United States, with minimal office requirements and strong support for distributed collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary ranging from $145,000 to $195,000, with eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus. Additional offerings include:
