The Senior Manager of Payroll will lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of payroll systems within a growing multi-entity healthcare environment. This role ensures accurate and compliant payroll delivery across bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly cycles for a diverse workforce including W2 employees, 1099 contractors, and K1 partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct end-to-end payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions, employment types, and tax structures
- Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations for wage reporting, tax filings, and compliance deadlines
- Collaborate with Finance and Human Resources to align payroll operations with organizational goals
- Generate reliable payroll insights and metrics for executive decision-making
- Supervise, mentor, and develop payroll team members to support scalable operations
- Design and maintain internal controls, system workflows, and audit-ready processes
- Lead payroll integration efforts during organizational changes such as mergers and acquisitions
- Manage multiple FEINs and legal entities with precision and accountability
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have at least five years of advancing experience in payroll leadership, including direct team management within multi-state healthcare or management services organizations. Required expertise includes mastery of ADP Workforce Now, ADP iReports, and Smart Compliance tools, along with deep knowledge of multi-jurisdictional tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
Experience building or transforming payroll operations is essential, as is familiarity with integrating systems across complex organizational structures. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred. Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is strongly recommended.
